Greetings, lovely readers! I'm Christy, the proud owner of Central Texas Spirit Wear, and I'm thrilled to share a bit more about myself and the incredible journey that led me to the world of homecoming mums.
My mum-making adventure began in 2010 when I crafted enchanting mums for my sons' homecoming dates. Little did I know, this creative outlet would blossom into a passion for designing with boas and bows, filling a void I didn't even realize existed in my life.
As the mum-making bug took hold, I discovered that not everyone could invest the time and effort needed to create these stunning masterpieces. So, armed with leftover materials and a spark of entrepreneurial spirit, I created three adorable mums and offered them to my Facebook friends for a modest $25. To my delight, they were snatched up in just 15 minutes!
Taking that as a sign, I embarked on a transformative journey. The following Spring, I took a leap of faith and officially established Central Texas Spirit Wear by obtaining a tax resale license and DBA. Fast forward to 2024, and I'm gearing up for my remarkable 10th season in the homecoming mum business.
Owning a small business has been nothing short of life-changing for me. Not only have I honed my skills as a maker, but I've also embraced the challenges and joys of being a business owner. To give back to the mum-making community, I proudly serve as a board member of Mums, Inc., a professional organization dedicated to homecoming mum makers.
